An Opal triplet is a real Opal protected with a clear Quartz top layer and also has a black Agate bottom to enhance its color. That's what gives it the appearance of the highly collectable and expensive black opal. It is very difficult to get a good photo of an opal. This stone is very magical in person and just glitters with moving colors.
